ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - It's the night people around the nation have been waiting for, as the Miss America Pageant returns to New Jersey!

Saturday night hundreds of people gathered at the Atlantic City Boardwalk to see the contestants, marching bands, dancing groups and choirs perform on the parade's nearly two mile route. Each contestant had the opportunity to wave at the crowd as they were driven in sporty convertible cars.

While the parade is a tradition we've seen for years, there are many incredible firsts that everyone can expect at this year's pageant.

Miss Kansas, also known as 22-year-old Theresa Vail will be the first contestant to walk down the runway without covering her tattoos. Vail is also a sergeant for the National Guard. Plus, 23-year-old Nicole Kelly may have been born without her left forearm, but that didn't stop her from being crowned Miss Iowa.

20-year-old Myrrhanda Jones will be representing Florida in tonight's pageant, showcasing her baton twirling routine. Jones was named the preliminary talent winner Thursday night. This came after she suffered a completely torn ACL and a partially torn MCL in her right knee, after a fall during her talent rehearsal in the morning.

You can only watch the Miss America Pageant on Local 10 Sunday at 9 p.m.
