NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Two men were rushed to the hospital after crashing their car into a tree in a North Miami Beach yard early Thursday morning.

According to North Miami Beach police, officers were pursuing the car at the time of the accident.  The incident reportedly started after an officer tried to stop the 4-door sedan along Northeast 167th street, but the driver took off.

Police say the car sped into a residential neighborhood and ran a stop sign at the corner of NE 164th Street and 2nd Avenue.  The car then jumped a curb, the driver lost control and crashed the car into two trees in the yard of a home.

The two men in the car had to be transported to the hospital via air rescue.

An officer involved in the chase told Local 10 that he suspects alcohol could be a factor.
