Police: Man drove stolen tractor trailer full of soup

Eusebio Diaz Acosta accused of driving stolen truck with $75K of soup inside

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Police arrested a man accused of stealing a tractor trailer containing $75,000 worth of soup.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested 51-year-old Eusebio Diaz Acosta early Sunday. He was charged with larceny from shipment and vehicle theft.

According to an arrest affidavit, troopers saw Diaz Acosta driving southbound on Florida's Turnpike. When troopers pulled him over at the 63 mile marker, a man got out of the passenger seat and ran off.

Diaz Acosta told troopers he met the passenger, Pepe, a week ago, who paid him to drive the tractor trailer, according to the arrest affidavit.

The tractor trailer was stolen from Lessors, Inc., in Polk County, police said. The total value of it and the soup was $350,000.
