The unidentified victim says he was sexually abused by two Catholic priests during his youth

MIAMI – A South Florida man at the center of a sex abuse scandal has reached a settlement with the Archdiocese of Miami, according to the Miami Herald.

The unidentified man issued complaints about two former West Kendall priests, who served at St. Timothy Catholic Church during the 1980s and 1990s.

The man claims he was the victim of sexual abuse and molestation during when he was16 years old.

The Herald reports that the Miami Archdiocese never alerted parishioners about the complaints against Rev. Rafael Escala and Rev. Oscar Mendez, which were first made in late 2011.

The amount of the settlement was kept confidential. Escala died at age 77 in 2009; Mendez is in his 80s and is said to be in poor health.
