Tornado tosses, damages boats

Boats at Power Catamarans of South Florida damaged

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – The National Weather Service said a very weak tornado touched down Tuesday afternoon along State Road 84 just northwest of the Interstate 95/595 junction and tossed several small boats around.

Firefighters responded to Southwest 25th Avenue and State Road 84 about 1:15 p.m.

The EF-0 tornado damaged several small boats and ripped off paneling at Power Catamarans of South Florida.

"It was just a little thunderstorm and then all of a sudden it got loud, boats started flying by," said Bruce Wade, the owner of Power Catamarans of South Florida. "It was crazy for a while. Everything went black."

Wade said the storm sounded like a freight train.

"Never had anything move like this before," he said.

Wade said his business suffered about $6,000 worth of damage.
