Vice president Joe Biden to visit Boca Raton, Tamarac on Friday

Headline Goes Here

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to head to South Florida for a two-day campaign tour of the battleground state.

On Friday, the Democrat will appear at events in Boca Raton and Tamarac, where his speechesĀ are expected to focus on Medicare reform in an effort to win support from senior citizens.

Biden will attend a rally in Boca Raton's Century Village at noon, before speaking to a crowd in Tamarac later in the afternoon. He is expected to showcase the "different philosophies" between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney for the middle class, as the Obama campaign pushes hard for the support of Florida's senior citizen community.

On Saturday, Biden will speak at a grassroots event in Fort Myers.

His visit comes just 11 days before the October 9th Florida registration deadline. Recent polls show President Obama is leading in several key swing states, including Florida.

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan targeted Hispanic voters during his campaign stop in Miami last Saturday. He spoke to a mostly Cuban crowd at Little Havana's Versailles restaurant, telling them the Romney-Ryan ticket plans to "clamp down on the Castro regime."

Both presidential candidates also made appearances in South Florida last week. Each visited the University of Miami to participate in "Meet the Candidates" town hall meeting events on the Spanish-language network Univision.
