Gunman who shot cab driver multiple times sought, Fort Lauderdale police say

Police: Taxi cab driver taken to hospital now in stable condition

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A taxi cab driver was hospitalized Saturday after being shot multiple times by a gunman, police said.

The shooting happened around 5:21 p.m. Saturday near 533 NW 14th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale.

Police said the gunman attempted to rob the taxi cab driver before shooting multiple times. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Saturday night, the driver's condition was upgraded to stable condition.

The gunman is still on the loose and ran southbound on foot. Police described the gunman as a black man who wore all dark clothing.
