Identities released in Fort Lauderdale construction accident

Jose Alfred Isagirrez-Mejia dead, 2 others injured after beam falls on workers

This is the site of a fatal construction accident in Fort Lauderdale.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police have identified the man who was killed and two others who were injured in a construction accident in Fort Lauderdale.

Jose Alfredo Isagirrez-Mejia, 30, was pronounced dead Monday at Broward Health Medical Center.

Sneidjer Rodriguez, 25, and Ronaldy Najeras, 45, were still being treated Tuesday, but police said they were expected to make a full recovery.

The accident happened Monday morning when a concrete beam fell and struck the three workers in the 2600 block of South Andrews Avenue. The construction is for a new BMW dealership.

Police and the Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration are investigating the accident.
