Issa Asad fatally runs over groundskeeper with car, BSO says

Witnesses claim Davie man had been arguing with victim about money

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A 41-year-old Davie man fatally ran over another man with his Mercedes Benz during an argument about money, a Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said Monday.

Issa Asad faces a murder charge in the death of Michael Kramer. The 50-year-old victim died of his injuries at a hospital July 15.

Witnesses told detectives Kramer and a helper had finished some yard work on Asad's Dania Beach property July 5 when they got into an argument about payment, BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said.

Kramer believed Asad owed him $65 more than he wanted to pay. As Asad began inching his car forward, Kramer said to him, "Are you going to run me over," Moschella said.

"If you don't move, I'm going to run you over," Asad replied, Moschella said.

Witnesses said Asad then stepped on the gas pedal, running over Kramer with the front and back wheels of his car, Moschella said.

Asad previously faced a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
