Job fair held at Sawgrass Mills Mall

More than 30 retailers at free job fair

SUNRISE, Fla. - A job fair featuring more than 30 retailers was held at the Sawgrass Mills Mall.

The free job fair was held inside Entry 1 near the jcpenney Outlet and BrandsMart USA Wednesday.

"Searching every day and you're filling out an application, especially when nobody is calling you back," said Patricia Mathis.

Participating retailers included: Banana Republic Factory Store, Bath & Body Works, Caché Outlet, Calvin Klein, Coach Factory Store, GameStop, Gap Outlet, Gymboree Outlet, Guess Factory Store, jcpenney Outlet, IT'SUGAR, Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Outlet, Nautica Factory Store, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Super Target, Tommy Hilfiger Company Store, UGG Australia, and Victoria's Secret.

Many of the jobs are seasonal.

"Probably about 20 percent of the jobs are full-time positions. We have both -- anything from store manager to sales associates to cooks, you name it," said Joellyn Fellmeth with Sawgrass Mills.

Some at the fair were looking for second jobs.

"I'm a risk manager for an investment firm but it still doesn't pay what it used to pay," said Alex Colon.

"Some of the companies don't want to hire a full-time. They prefer to hire a part-time. There they don't have to go with insurance, health insurance, benefits and stuff," said Andre Castillo-Rugama.

The job fair ended at 2 p.m.
