Rains flood Pembroke Pines parking lot, Hollywood man hospitalized, fire at Cooper City house

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – It was a soggy beginning to the Labor Day weekend as rains fell across South Florida on Saturday.

The deep rumble of thunder across a charcoal-grey sky showed signs a major downpour was coming.

As the rain picked up, the problems began to appear across the area.

In Pembroke Pines, Local 10's Christina Vazquez found shopping carts and car tires submerged in water at the plaza, near Pines and Flamingo.

There was another close call in Cooper City, where first responders believe an electrifying bolt of lightning may have been the cause of a house fire.
