Gunfight leaves 5 men injured in Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Five men were shot on Thursday afternoon in Miami Gardens. Witnesses fear it was a gang-related gunfight. A man said there were so many people shooting “it sounded like Iraq.”

One of the victims was shot in the chest. According to Detective Carolyn Frazer, a spokeswoman for the Miami Gardens Police Department, the shooting happened about 4:30 p.m. behind the U-Gas Station at 16701 NW 42 Ave.

Frazer said officers found the victims spread out throughout the area. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel airlifted two of the injured to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Detectives detain several people outside of a convenience store after a shooting Thursday afternoon in Miami Gardens.

Two ambulances responded to The U-Gas Station, near the Palmetto Expressway. An ambulance responded to a home nearby on Northwest 168th Terrace.

Detectives detained seven people in front of a convenience store at 4195 NW 167 St., right behind the gas station. By early Friday morning, Frazer had not provided an update on the number of arrests made.
