MARGATE, Fla. – Margate police confirmed early Wednesday morning that they had located a 16-year-old girl who had not been seen since Monday night, and who left behind a note at her home stating that she “needed a break from life.”
According to authorities, Lakeisha Scott left her home in the 6500 block of Northwest First Court between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday, but officers are unsure whether she left on foot or in a car.
Police said Lakeisha has a history of being hospitalized under the Baker Act and has suicidal tendencies. She suffers from severe depression and did not take her medication with her, authorities said.
Police did not disclose where Lakeisha had been during the time she was away from home, but said that she “was recovered safely.”
