Florida reports 7,296 new COVID-19 cases, passes 35,000 deaths from virus

92 resident deaths reported Friday

Florida health officials reported an increase of 7,296 COVID-19 cases Friday and 92 more resident deaths as a result of the virus.

The state has now verified 2,155,744 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began and 34,330 resident deaths, according to the latest health department data.

Another 670 non-residents have died in Florida from COVID-19, raising the state’s total death toll over 35,000.

Coronavirus-related deaths reported in the past day include 15 in Miami-Dade County, 21 in Broward County and seven in Palm Beach County.

There have been 87,943 resident hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus in the state.

At least 7,823,859 people have received COVID-19 vaccines in Florida, with 4,910,971 people in the state fully vaccinated.

Miami-Dade has had 1,041,004 people receive shots, Broward has had 713,850, Monroe 30,416 and Palm Beach County 572,182, according to the latest numbers posted by the state.
