Florida adds 4,671 cases of COVID-19 Sunday, 32 resident deaths

Florida health officials reported an increase of 4,671 COVID-19 cases Sunday and 32 more resident deaths as a result of the virus.

The state has now verified 2,208,584 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began. Florida’s population is reported by the U.S. Census Bureau as 21.48 million.

There have been 34,848 resident deaths, according to the latest health department data.

Another 686 non-residents have died in Florida from COVID-19.

Coronavirus-related deaths reported in the past day include 15 in Miami-Dade County, five in Broward County and two in Palm Beach County.

There have been 89,457 resident hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus in the state.

At least 8,512,825 people have received COVID-19 vaccines in Florida, with 5,758,162 people in the state fully vaccinated.

In Miami-Dade 1,165,951 people have received shots, Broward has had 786,187, Monroe 33,489 and Palm Beach County 625,001, according to the latest numbers posted by the state.

The statewide positivity rate for yesterday’s testing was 6.85%.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reported is over 146.6 million. There have been more than 3.1 million deaths worldwide attributed to the pandemic, according to data compiled from various sources by Johns Hopkins University.

The United States has confirmed over 32 million cases and has had more than 571,000 deaths from COVID-19, the highest totals in the world.
