Hollywood condo fined for not maintaining public path

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A special magistrate has fined the Renaissance on the Ocean condo association $15,000 for not maintaining a public pathway.

The path parallels the beach and is located behind the Renaissance on North Beach in Hollywood.

The public pathway is supposed to be maintained by the condo association as required by an agreement with the city.

The path also is supposed to have crushed shell on the surface to make it hard enough for bike riders to use. Instead, most of the pathway is soft sand.

The association was issued a violation and has 30 days to place the crushed shell on the path or face more fines.

The association closed the path for six months citing safety issues and they face fines for that as well. The pathway reopened on May 31.
