Caught on video: Police searching for thief who stole $2,000 worth of construction tools

MIAMI – Miami Police burglary detectives are investigating a theft that occurred on Friday, Jan. 21, at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Video surveillance captured a black Chevy sedan slowly pulling up to the front of the home in the 600 block of Northeast 51st Street while an unknown offender exited the front passenger’s side and immediately picked up the victim’s tools, which were worth approximately $2,000, before fleeing the scene.

Officers met with the victim who reported that while he was doing driveway renovations, he placed his construction tools on the ground and continued working on the driveway, at which point in time someone picked up his tools and fled the scene.

Detectives are actively investigating this case and need assistance in identifying the subject responsible.

Detectives are looking for:

  • Suspect: Black male. No further description.
  • Offending vehicle: Black newer model Chevy sedan.
