Man arrested in Miami-Dade alleyway slaying suspected in at least 5 rapes, police source says

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The man accused of shooting a woman in the head in a northwest Miami-Dade alleyway Tuesday, killing her and leaving her partially nude body at the scene, is a suspect in at least five rapes, a law enforcement source tells Local 10 News.

Police arrested 43-year-old Ron Donaldson, of Miami Beach, Wednesday. They said he and the victim, 25-year-old Wendy Daniel, arrived to the area of Northwest 26th Avenue and 95th Street early Tuesday morning in Donaldson’s gray sedan.

The area is known for prostitution activity, police said. Surveillance video shows Donaldson, who also appeared to be nude, exiting the car from the passenger side, grabbing the victim as she tried to stand up and shooting her once in the head, the arrest report stated.

Police tracked him down at his Miami Beach apartment less than 24 hours later.

Local 10 News has also learned more about Donaldson’s background. He worked as an insurance agent and unit supervisor for Bankers Life in its North Miami office and had no apparent criminal history before Wednesday, when he was charged with second-degree murder.

“We are saddened to learn of this tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim,” Bankers Life spokesperson Valerie Dolenga said. “The individual is no longer employed with the company. Since this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further at this time.”

A police source said investigators believe he may be involved in at least five rapes in Miami-Dade County. Police confirmed that they are working with other agencies to see if he is connected to other crimes.

While Donaldson has been arrested, Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information as to what may have led up to Daniel’s death. Its number is 305-471-8477.
