Caught on camera: Police seek suspect that stole laptop from medical student at Barry University

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Miami Shores police are investigating a robbery after a medical student at a university in Miami-Dade County said his laptop was stolen inside the school’s library.

The student told Local 10 News that he was in the library at Barry University in Miami Shores when his laptop computer was taken on Friday.

Video surveillance showed the man waiting for the victim to leave the computer unattended before he stepped in and took it.

“About 20 minutes later, I realized that my computer and my property was gone,” said the student.

“I’ve been in the library pretty frequently over the last 5 months,” said the student. “I have a licensing exam coming up in the next 10 days.”

He added the person has not been identified but has been seen by other students at the school over the last 5 days.

“My goal here is to identify the thief and bring some justice,” he said.

Barry University issued the following statement:

“We’re aware of this one isolated incident and are working closely with Miami Shores police to identify and apprehend the individual who is responsible.”
