Daniel Gray, 20, of Plantation, and his girlfriend, Neki Lys, 18, of North Lauderdale, met with the victim and a juvenile male shortly for “a transaction,” according to BSO.

Authorities said the victim got into a car that was driven by Lys when Gray shot him.

North Lauderdale Fire Rescue and Tamarac Fire Rescue were at the scene and airlifted the victim to a nearby hospital.

Authorities said the victim remains in critical condition.

After the shooting, deputies said Gray and Lys fled in the car.

Detectives said Lys later reported the car as stolen to Boca Raton police on Tuesday.

According to BSO, Lys made the false report “in an attempt to conceal the earlier violent crime.”

Investigators said Lys was arrested Wednesday and is currently being held in jail in Palm Beach County.

BSO deputies arrested Gray on Thursday in Miramar and transported him to the Broward Main Jail.

He is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a firearm and violating probation.

Authorities have not revealed the charges that Lys is facing.

The investigation is ongoing.
