MIAMI – A 23-year-old woman was facing a murder charge on Thursday in the Florida Keys after detectives accused her of selling the fentanyl that caused a 53-year-old woman’s death.

Deputies held Alexis Joy Sather, of Marathon, without bond for the murder of Amanda Roberts, who deputies found dead on Sept. 2 at her home in Grassy Key.

“Quit selling this poison in our community,” Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in a statement on Wednesday after a medical examiner reported Roberts died of a fentanyl and diazepam overdose.

Deputies had already arrested Sather on Sept. 21 on charges of distributing heroin, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and distribution of fentanyl, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Records show she is being held without bond.
