Broward shooting injures teenager in gated community

Lauderhill detectives investigate shooting

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Detectives are searching for the shooter who tried to kill a teenager on Saturday in Broward County.

Police officers found the teenager wounded on Saturday after a ShotSpotter alert in Lauderhill’s Windermere/Tree Garden, a gated community.

There was a crime scene marker next to a scooter and a fallen bicycle near the crime scene tape.

“I was home, and when I came out the door, the little boy was out there on the ground,” Natasha Simmons said.

The shooting was at about 9:50 p.m., near the intersection of Northwest 18 Street and 52 Avenue, according to the Lauderhill Police Department.

Lauderhill Fire Rescue personnel responded and took the victim to the Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

Lauderhill detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
