3 airlifted after pickups crash on Tamiami Trail in Everglades

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Medics airlifted three victims to a local hospital after two pickup trucks crashed on the Tamiami Trail in far west Miami-Dade late Friday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The crash happened at around 4 p.m. near Gator Park, located at 24050 SW Eighth St., about six miles west of Krome Avenue in the Florida Everglades.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the victims, at least two of whom were adults, were taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital as trauma alert patients. Officials haven’t provided any details about their conditions.

Sky 10 showed multiple fire rescue units, as well as Miccosukee tribal police officers, at the scene. Authorities closed the road while they investigated.

Officials haven’t said what led up to the crash.
