Miami-Dade mayor pardons pigs named after Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A South Florida holiday tradition took place on Monday, but it came with a celebrity inspired twist.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava pardoned a pair of pigs during the 6th annual ceremony that was held at Latin Cafe 2000 in Brickell.

Roasted pig, or lechón, is a staple at many South Florida family Christmas feasts.

This year, the pigs pardoned are named Travis and Taylor, after the new celebrity couple who are constantly making headlines -- singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“I had a chance to hold Taylor and she was very calm, obviously knows a lot about being in the media spotlight,” said Levine Cava. “The other one, not so much. Maybe he’s ready to be out on the field, fighting. He seemed to have a fighting spirit.”

The pigs’ journey will take them to their new forever home at the Bonanza Equestrian Center near Kendall.
