Woman accused of raping man with autism in Florida Keys, giving birth to victim’s child

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orlando woman is facing charges in the Florida Keys after deputies accused her of sexually assaulting a man with autism at least three times in 2022, according to an arrest warrant obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday.

Authorities allege that Amanda Rose Brooks, 36, became pregnant with the victim’s child after she raped him — and that she falsely claimed that she was victimized.

Local 10 News is not disclosing the relationship between Brooks and the alleged victim in order to protect his identity.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office warrant, Brooks was living in the Keys at the time of the assaults.

The warrant states that investigators became aware of what happened after Brooks called the sheriff’s office in June 2022 claiming to be the victim of sexual assault by the victim and another man.

Deputies said investigators determined the following month that the man was the victim in the case and that Brooks had sexually assaulted him “several times.”

The warrant states that the man, who “could not have consented to these acts,” told Brooks “no” and “stop” during one of the assaults.

At one point, deputies allege that Brooks told the man to “be quiet” and “not tell anyone” and that the assaults were OK because they “made her feel good.”

Authorities said a DNA test later showed that the victim fathered her child as a result of one of the rapes.

MCSO spokesperson Adam Linhardt said U.S. Marshals arrested Brooks in Orlando Thursday. According to online records, Keys deputies booked her into jail Sunday on charges of sexual battery, making a false report and obstructing a criminal investigation.

Brooks, whose occupation is listed in jail records as “caretaker,” was being held on a $150,000 bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
