Broward murder victim’s grief-stricken mother: ‘She was beautiful, creative, strong, smart’

Killer shot woman in Lauderhill who had just turned 22 in December

Rae Mari Vidal had four daughters. Her eldest died by suicide in 2020 and her youngest was recently murdered in Broward County.

Detectives have been searching for Regina Vidal’s killer since the shooting on Saturday morning at Newport Condos at Lauderhill, at 2029 NW 46 Ave.

Regina had just celebrated her 22nd birthday on Dec. 17.

“When she was a baby, I would whisper affirmations in her ear,” the grief-stricken mother said. “She was beautiful, creative, and strong, and smart, and independent.”

Regina graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School, and she grew up to be all of those things, her mother said through tears.

Regina was active in the South Florida Women’s Soccer League and a member of the Renegades team. Both mother and daughter shared a love of the sport.

“We did everything together,” the grieving mother said later adding, “You don’t just miss the moments you have. You miss the moments you’ll never have again.”

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. There was a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
