1 arrested, 1 sought following fatal robbery, shooting in Broward County

WEST PARK, Fla. – A 29-year-old man has been arrested, but Broward Sheriff’s Office are still searching for one other suspect following a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month in West Park, authorities confirmed Thursday.

Darrell Gerald Rose was arrested Wednesday in connection with the Jan. 7 murder of Serdjy Hyppolite.

According to deputies, they received a report about a shooting just before 2 a.m. that morning in the 2400 block of Southwest 57th Avenue.

BSO West Park District deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and found Hyppolite suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported Hyppolite to a nearby hospital, where he died two days later on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Detectives released surveillance video of the two suspects in the case on Jan. 17. The video shows the duo blocking in the victim’s car before beating and robbing him.

“Through investigative means, and with the help of several leads, detectives identified Rose as one of the suspects, and a warrant was issued for his arrest,” BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro said in a news release.

Rose was booked into the BSO Main Jail on one count of manslaughter and one count of strong-arm robbery.

Anyone with information about the second suspect’s identity or whereabouts is asked to call BSO Homicide Detective Steven Novak at 954-321-4325 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.

Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 from Crime Stoppers.
