Employee attacked, forced into vehicle outside Deerfield Beach business

Suspect taken into custody at Wawa in Margate

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating after they said an employee at a technical school was attacked and forced into a vehicle outside the business where they work in Deerfield Beach.

The incident was reported around 9:40 a.m. Thursday at Cortiva Institute Massage Therapy & Skin Care School, which is located near the 2000 block of West Sample Road.

According to deputies, a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) was issued and deputies canvassed the area.

Margate police confirmed that the suspect dropped off the victim at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital in Margate.

“HCA Florida Northwest Hospital is operating as normal after being placed on a brief lockdown today while police investigated a situation in the area,” a spokesperson for the hospital said in a statement. “We are proud of our hospital colleagues’ swift response prioritizing the safety and well-being of everyone inside our hospital.”

Deputies confirmed that the attacker is known to the victim and was arrested a short time later at a Wawa gas station in Margate.

The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, nor has a motive for the attack and kidnapping.

Detectives with BSO’s Special Victims Unit are continuing to investigate the incident.
