Deputies identify suspect in attack, kidnapping outside Deerfield Beach business

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A man accused of attacking and kidnapping an employee Thursday outside a business in Deerfield Beach has been identified by authorities as James Cure III.

Cure, 25, faces charges of armed kidnapping and burglary with assault or battery.

According to authorities, the incident was reported around 9:40 a.m. Thursday at Cortiva Institute Massage Therapy & Skin Care School, which is located near the 2000 block of West Sample Road.

According to deputies, a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) was issued and deputies canvassed the area.

Margate police confirmed that the suspect dropped off the victim at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital in Margate, which was then placed on a brief lockdown.

Deputies confirmed that Cure is known to the victim and was arrested a short time later at a Wawa gas station in Margate.

A motive for the incident has not yet been released.
