Broward County Public Schools announced the closures on Wednesday evening.
According to the district, the Weston Public Works Department quickly got to work on repairing the damaged water lines.
The city of Weston sent out an update on Thursday morning that the break had been repaired and a boil water notice was in effect for both school campuses.
Cypress Bay High School Principal Kassandra Fried released the following statement Wednesday regarding the water main break and the status of the school’s availability moving forward.
“This is an important update regarding the water main break that prompted the closure of our campus today.
The City of Weston Public Works Department worked through the night to resolve the matter, so our campus will fully reopen on Friday, April 5th. This includes all regularly scheduled before and after school activities. Water bottles will be available throughout the school for students and staff.
We’re thankful to the City of Weston for promptly addressing the matter and look forward to seeing our students and staff tomorrow.”
