USS Harry S. Truman to be displayed at Miami Fleet Week

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The U.S. Navy confirmed to Local 10 Monday that the USS Harry S. Truman is coming to Miami Fleet Week next month.

It’s the first time a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will be brought to any fleet week.

The Truman will be in South Florida before heading to the Red Sea to replace the USS Eisenhower.

“This is a great opportunity for the folks in the Miami area there to see our preeminent capital ships, the aircraft carriers and all the great things we’re doing currently in the Red Sea with the USS Eisenhower,” Admiral Daryl Caudle said. “So, the Harry S. Truman is in its deployment preparations and we took a little break from that to come down and share that aircraft carrier with the folks of Miami.”

The Truman will anchor offshore of Miami Beach and will ferry special groups to and from the ship for Fleet Week, which starts May 5.
