BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man is facing a grand theft charge in Broward County after tribal police said he stole a pricey piece of Elvis memorabilia from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.

Authorities arrested Christopher Michael Owen, 50, of Pompano Beach, on Saturday, according to court records.

According to a report from the Seminole Police Department, the crime happened on Feb. 14, 2023.

Police said Owen was seen on surveillance video going into a section blocked off with rope and barricades to get to a mannequin wearing the jacket that once belonged to the King of Rock and Roll.

The report states that Owen grabbed the jacket and later handed it to an unknown woman, who then left with it.

The jacket, authorities said, was worth $11,670. It’s not clear if the Hard Rock ever got it back.

Police said they were able to identify Owen after he had used his driver’s license information to request a cash advance at the casino earlier in the night.

Owen has a prior history of arrests in Broward. He’s no longer listed in county jail records as of Monday morning.
