FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 39-year-old woman appeared in Broward County bond court on Friday accused of domestic dating violence.

The victim, who had an injury on her face, testified before Broward County Circuit Judge Michele McCaul Ricca that Erica Gomez had also damaged her car.

“First, obviously, I am afraid,” the victim said in Spanish. “I have a 3-year-old son.”

Police officers arrested Gomez on Thursday in Coral Springs. During the court hearing, the victim told the judge they lived together, but that was changing soon.

Gomez was facing charges of dating violence battery and aggravated assault with intent to commit felony dating violence, a third-degree felony.

“I am not the bad one,” Gomez shouted over the public defender in Spanish.

The prosecution recommended a $6,000 bond. The defense said Gomez had only lived in South Florida for about five months, only had $300 in savings, and recommended a $2,000 bond.

McCaul Ricca set Gomez’s bond at $5,500. The judge also ordered no direct or indirect victim contact; no firearms, weapons, or ammunition; and no return home until the victim moves out.
