Fiery Tesla crash turns fatal in Weston

Tesla crashes under highway ramp

WESTON, Fla. – A 27-year-old man died when a Tesla crashed early Sunday morning in northern Weston, just south of the Everglades.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel described the scene as a fatal fiery single-vehicle crash at about 3:30 a.m., along Bonaventure Boulevard at State Road 84.

A yellow tarp covered the front of the gray Tesla, which appeared to have collided with a tall cylindrical concrete column under the eastbound SR-84 overpass ramp.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies used crime scene tape to block access to the area near Interstate 75, also known as Alligator Alley and Everglades Parkway.

According to Battalion Chief Michael B. Kane, a traffic homicide detective with the BSO was investigating the cause of the crash. The medical examiner’s office was investigating the cause of death.
