MIAMI — Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Miami.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Northwest 36th Street and 21st Avenue.

According to police, officers responded to find a 66-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive.

First responders performed life-saving measures on the man until paramedics arrived and rushed him to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police confirmed that it was not a hit and run, but did not provide any additional information.
