Police officers responded to the shooting at about 2:30 a.m. in the area of Northeast 157th Street, according to the North Miami Beach Police Department.

Fire rescue personnel also responded and took the survivor, whose condition was critical, to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital’s trauma center.

Residents in the area said they heard two or three gunshots coming from the house that operates as a short-term rental.

“It’s always a really quiet street and quiet neighborhood,” Renee Hesse said.

Police officers removed a door with bullet holes from inside the home and loaded it into a van.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
