POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A 33-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after beating his roommate to death in Pompano Beach, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, Shenard Jennings, and the victim, Karim Shouman, 39, got into an argument overnight inside their home in the 2900 block of Northwest Second Street.
BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said the argument, which stemmed from an ongoing dispute, turned physical when Jennings punched the victim.
She said he proceeded to beat the victim, eventually killing him.
According to Grossman, deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel responded to the home shortly before 1 a.m. after receiving a call about a deceased person inside the residence.
She said they then located Shouman’s body in the kitchen. He was pronounced dead at the scene by PBFR.
Jennings was transported to BSO’s Main Jail and faces one count of first-degree murder.
Further details about the argument that led up to the alleged beating have not yet been released.
