Protest held outside new Palantir office in Aventura over alleged surveillance assistance to ICE

Demonstrators protest Palantir moving headquarters to South Florida

AVENTURA, Fla. — A protest was held Tuesday against the latest tech giant to relocate to South Florida.

With eyeballs, political pinatas and signs, organizers called the protest an unwelcome party.

Protesters rally against Palantir amid accusations of helping with surveillanc, ICE deportations

Last month, Palantir Technologies announced on X it was moving its headquarters to Miami, leaving Denver, Colorado, where it faced similar protests and criticism.

“Our goal is to let Palantir know they’re not welcome in Miami,” said organizer Cathy Carillo.

Palantir’s latest annual report shows the company has changed its executive offices to a location near Aventura Mall, where dozens demonstrated Tuesday evening.

“We want to make sure that our local officials know there are steps they can take. People don’t have to work with Palantir,” said Carillo.

Demonstrators say they’re concerned about Palantir’s role in government surveillance and immigration enforcement.

Reports show the company has received millions of dollars in federal contracts, including work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has supported businesses and billionaires moving to South Florida.

Organizers are urging state and local leaders to reject partnerships with the company as it prepares to expand its footprint.

“We want to be very clear that we will continue to follow them and make sure they’re being held accountable for the ways that they are using the data and surveillance,” said Carillo.

Organizers say this was not the only protest planned against Palantir.

There was also a planned demonstration in Palo Alto, California, where Palantir was founded.

The tech giant did not respond to Local 10 News’ request for comment.

Protesters said they plan to meet again when Palantir has a permanent office in Miami.
