MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A three-vehicle crash in southwest Miami-Dade sent eight people to the hospital Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the collision happened around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of West Flagler Street and Southwest 82nd Avenue, and involved a black Hyundai sedan, a Toyota SUV and a Ford coupe.
Officials said all eight occupants involved were transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. The driver of the Hyundai, a man, suffered serious injuries, while the front passenger, also a man, was listed in critical condition.
People who work nearby told Local 10 News that they helped the two men out.
“He collapsed down and then we noticed that his leg seemed to be broken, and he was trying to get up and then he kept referencing somebody in the car, and that’s when we noticed that somebody else was in the vehicle,” said Alberto Romero.
“He had a passenger,” said Efrain Gonzalez. “He was in very bad shape. He was just in an odd position. I called over to the first sheriff who came. I said, ‘I need you, urgent here.’”
West Flagler Street was shut down for about four hours as crews conducted a preliminary investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
