POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A domestic-related stabbing that began late Friday night in Deerfield Beach led to a deputy pursuit and arrest in Pompano Beach, with two victims hospitalized on Saturday, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
BSO dispatchers first received a report of a stabbing in the 4700 block of Northeast First Terrace in Deerfield Beach around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Investigators said deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and found a woman suffering from stab wounds. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
They said the suspect, a man who lives with the victim, was not at the scene when they arrived.
Deputies said they later located the suspect’s Jeep near East Copans Road and North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
When a deputy attempted a traffic stop, they said the driver refused to stop, continued a short distance, and crashed into a fence at a nearby convenience store parking lot before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Deputies said they took the suspect into custody not too far from where he crashed.
Inside the Jeep, deputies said they found a teenage female suffering from stab wounds. She was also transported to a nearby hospital along with the suspect for treatment of their injuries.
Authorities identified the suspect as Eric Senat, 34, and confirmed that he was arrested in connection with the incident.
Investigators said BSO’s Special Victims and Crime Scene units are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. The agency has also contacted the Florida Department of Children and Families regarding the case.
No other details about the stabbing were immediately released.
