PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — A 21-year-old man was arrested after he pulled out a gun during a verbal altercation with a security guard early Friday at a RaceTrac in Pembroke Park, authorities confirmed.
According to Pembroke Park police, officers were called around 5:10 a.m. to the RaceTrac at 3031 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. after a security guard reported an altercation with the man, who allegedly made threats before pulling out a gun from a small black bag.
Police said a be-on-the-lookout alert was then issued, and within about five minutes, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies located the suspect’s vehicle at the Wawa at 3199 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd.
Authorities said they conducted a felony traffic stop and took the driver, Kevin Cody Brown, and a passenger into custody without incident. They said a handgun was recovered from a black bag inside the vehicle.
According to police, the security guard later identified Brown as the person involved in the disturbance. The passenger was not involved and was interviewed and released at the scene, officers confirmed.
Jail records show Brown is facing one count of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony.
As of Friday, he was being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail.
No other details were immediately released.
