Police: Man injured, 2 dogs dead, 3 dogs injured after dog fight and shooting in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A dog fight and a shooting left two dogs dead, three dogs injured, and a dog owner injured on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, according to police.

Four unleashed dogs attacked a dog and the dog’s owner at about 9:30 a.m. at Northwest 11th Avenue and Seventh Street in the Homes Beautiful Park area, according to investigators.

The dog owners grabbed a gun and shot the four fighting dogs, and two died at the scene, according to police.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel responded to treat a dog owner who was injured while trying to break up the dog fight, according to police.

Police officers with FLPD’s Animal Crimes Unit responded to investigate the incident.
