Police: Man injured, 2 dogs dead, 2 dogs injured after dog fight and shooting in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A dog fight and a shooting left two dogs dead, two dogs injured, and a dog owner injured on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, according to police.

A group of dogs got into a fight at about 9:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 11th Avenue and Seventh Street in the Homes Beautiful Park area.

One of the dog owners was armed with a gun and shot four dogs, including two that died at the scene of the fight, according to police.

A second dog owner suffered a dog bite while trying to break up the fight, and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel responded to treat him, according to police.

Police officers with FLPD’s Animal Crimes Unit responded to investigate the incident.
