FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A civil trial expected to last two weeks ended after just two days when both sides agreed to a settlement in a lawsuit involving NFL star Tyreek Hill and social media influencer and plus-size model Sophie Hall.
Hall claimed Hill broke her leg during a backyard training session at his home in June 2023.
“I feel a pain beneath my knee and I lose my breath and collapse,” Hall testified in court.
Hall took the stand for a second day in the civil trial against the former Miami Dolphins wide receiver. She testified that she broke her leg after Hill rushed at her while the two were running drills in his backyard.
“I felt like his torso hit my torso,” Hall said.
Hall testified she went to Hill’s home after he showed interest in her and contacted her through social media. After watching Hill run drills with a trainer, she said she wanted to participate.
Hall said she first rushed Hill, causing him to be pushed backward and embarrassed in front of friends and family -- something Hill’s attorneys argued never happened.
“I guess he didn’t realize my strength and everyone started laughing at him,” Hall testified.
“There was no incident that involved embarrassing Mr. Hill. There was no incident where people were laughing at him,” Hill’s defense attorney Rob Horwitz said.
Hall said that after the incident, Hill’s demeanor changed.
“Immediately his whole demeanor changed and he went switch, switch,” Hall testified.
Hill’s attorneys argued Hall tripped over his dog during a play, causing the fracture.
On the second day of the civil trial, both sides agreed to a settlement.
The judge said Hall agreed to dismiss the assault and battery claims and settle the negligence claim.
After court, Hill said, “I am going to Disney World.”
Hall declined to answer questions after the hearing.
Attorneys for both sides also declined to comment on details of the settlement.
