Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies recently arrested a 39-year-old man accused of stealing luggage at Miami International Airport.
Surveillance video shows Michael Tilley and a woman grabbing two pieces of luggage belonging to American Airlines passengers from a carousel on April 18 at MIA, according to a deputy’s arrest report.
“Both subjects then exited the terminal, entered the vehicle, and fled the area,” a deputy wrote, according to the arrest report.
Tilley, of Miami Gardens, “pawned two pairs of shoes” on April 20 that had been in the stolen luggage, according to the deputy’s report.
Deputies arrested Tilley on Friday in Miami Gardens. Court records show Tilley was convicted of robbery in 2023 and sentenced to a 5-year probation. It was set to end on Oct. 28, 2028, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.
Miami-Dade prosecutors filed a new grand theft case against him on Saturday. He appeared in bond court, and a judge ordered him to stay away from MIA. His bond was $2,500.
