MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Gardens police arrested a 27-year-old man accused of attacking a delivery driver with a machete.

Officers took Fabrice Jack Janvier into custody on Friday along the 900 block of Northwest 196th Terrace.

According to authorities, an Amazon driver was attempting to deliver a package when Janvier came out of the home next door and threw a machete in her direction.

Police said Janvier then picked up the machete, “raising it as if he intended to strike her with it,” causing the Amazon driver to run to her vehicle and drive away while Janvier, “chased after her with the machete,” according to an arrest form.

Responding officers went to Janvier’s home and spoke with him there, with officers observing the machete in his possession, but with the help of Janvier’s father, officers were able to have him safely exit the home to be detained without incident.

Janvier is facing a charge of attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and as of Monday morning, he remained behind bars at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.
