They were seen focusing on a home in the area of Northeast First Court and 76th Street.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, BSO and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department were conducting a joint criminal investigation in the area.

It’s unclear what the officers were searching for, but it did require some digging.

Authorities were seen literally unearthing mounds of dirt, and they appeared to be sifting through it.

A man who lives on the block told Local 10 News that the search was for human remains dating back to an old case from before he moved onto the property.

Since the investigation is active and ongoing, BSO officials said they could not provide any additional information.

Law enforcement left the area around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
