MIAMI LAKES, Fla. — A 44-year-old woman stands accused of stealing from a Miami Lakes woman with dementia that she was supposed to be protecting while working as a home health aide, according to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy’s arrest report.
Detectives arrested Janet Hernandez on Thursday after the woman’s son installed a Ring surveillance camera that recorded videos showing her carrying full garbage bags to her 2011 white Chevrolet SUV, according to the M-DSO deputy’s report.
“She was also captured taking a new generator, pottery, plates, cleaning items, and other random miscellaneous items from inside the residence and placing them inside her vehicle,” a deputy wrote, according to the report.
Hernandez, who was working for United Homecare at the victim’s home in Miami Lakes, published a video showing her wearing “a unique gold cross pendant that was also missing from the residence” on Facebook in March, according to the deputy’s report.
Hernandez faced charges of theft from the elderly and third-degree grand theft.
