Coral Springs police identified the victim Monday to Local 10 News as Khameran Jackson, of Dania Beach.

According to police, Jackson was shot and killed early Thursday morning inside a townhome community near Royal Palm Boulevard and Riverside Drive.

Theresa Zuniga, who lives in the area, told Local 10 last week that she was scared when she heard a helicopter flying over.

“This place is very calm,” Zuniga said about her neighborhood.

Another resident, Samiir Syne, said it’s usually a safe area.

“It’s bizarre. I think it’s a safe area, and the fact that it was right there,” she said.

SWAT teams surrounded the neighborhood as a nearby school closed early for the day.

There was also crime scene tape near the pool of a neighboring apartment building at the Coral Springs Tower Club community. There appeared to be an assault rifle in the water.

Crime scene SKY 10 aerial video shows what appears to be a rifle in a pool at an apartment building on Thursday morning in Coral Springs.

Police confirmed that Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Coral Springs Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
