MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man on two felony charges, including attempted murder, after accusing him of shooting at his neighbor just outside of Florida City on Sunday.
According to MDSO, the incident happened just after 10 p.m. at the Goldcoaster trailer park, located near Southwest 344th Street and 187th Avenue.
Deputies said Cody Richter, 29, first fired a shot into his neighbors’ mobile home on Southwest 187th Court.
An arrest report states that when the two residents came out of their home to see what was going on, Richter fired two shots at one of the neighbors, narrowly missing him.
“He was able to feel the bullets whizzing by him,” an MDSO investigator said of one of the neighbors.
Deputies said both neighbors ran inside and called 911.
The report states that Richter still had the gun in his hand when deputies arrived. He dropped it, it states, and deputies took him into custody.
According to the report, Richter claimed that he was shooting at someone “to the right” of his neighbor. It states that he claimed that that person was “harassing him.”
Deputies took Richter into custody on charges of attempted murder and shooting or throwing a deadly missile.
He was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond listed as “to be set” as of Monday afternoon.
