FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man died late Thursday night after being struck by a train and ejected into a body of water in Fort Lauderdale, police confirmed.
According to Fort Lauderdale police, the accident happened around 11 p.m. near the 400 block of Southwest Third Avenue.
Authorities said officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the scene, where they located the man, who was pronounced dead after his body was recovered from the water. The man has not yet been identified.
Police on Friday morning said traffic was also temporarily disrupted near Broward Boulevard, Sunrise Boulevard and Flagler Drive. They urged drivers to seek alternate routes, including in the areas of Davie Boulevard and Oakland Park Boulevard.
No other details about the investigation were immediately released.
